Nowadays, people have many different ways and places to buy things. Most people choose to purchase things in the department stores or by using the mail-order catalogues. I will compare them into three parts: the shopping time, fitness problem, and touching and feeling the merchandise.

II. Body:

The first difference between the department stores and mail-order catalogues is the shopping time.

People don't have much time to go shopping, but you can buy things anytime you want in the mail-order catalogues.

Mail-order are more convenient than department stores to shoppers.

The second one we need to discuss is the fitness problem.

When we purchase clothes or pants by mail-order catalogues, we can not try on them.

It is very difficult for customs to change the products by using mail-order catalogues.

Touching and feeling the merchandise is the last difference between them.

You can touch and feel the commodities in the department stores; in contrast, you can only use your imagination to buy the commodities in the mail-order catalogues.

You even don't know the real size of the products.

I think it is the reason why the department stores are still so popular now.

III. Conclusion:

They both have benefits and drawbacks. After we talk about so many differences, which way do you want to choose only depending on your own needs. There is not the fixed answer because every customer has his or her own different demands.

Friends in different interests

All of us have friends in our life and how to choose right friends is a very important lesson for us to learn. There are three different types of friends I have ever had. The first category consists of baseball fans who like to watch the baseball game with me. The next group includes the friends who can discuss the homework together. The last kind is made up of the friends who can chat about everything.

The first category consists of baseball fans who like to watch the baseball game with me. Prisca is the best example in this kind of friends. We support the same baseball team which is called Lions. When we have free time, we always watch the baseball game together. In addition, we also like the same player, Chien-Ming Wang. Every time when we talk about baseball, we will have a lot of fun.

I have a lot of friends who can discuss the homework together. When we have difficulties doing homework, we can help each other to solve the problems. For instance, Chris can teach me a lot about linguistics. She have learned linguistics before, so she can get me a lot of help. From the discussion we can learn more and improve our relationship at the same time.

Caroline is typical of this kind of friends who can talk about everything. When we chat together, we don't have to worry about who will tell the secrets to others. For example, when we criticize others about something bad, we can keep the secrets in our mind. Furthermore, no one will deceive others. We can relax a lot and have fun from our free talking.

I think all of three types of friends are extremely important to me. And I won't give up any one type of them. If I lose any kind of friends, I will be very upset and unhappy. Friendship is very significant in my life.
